The Best Stretch Mark Cream – Top Brands Compared

When choosing the best stretch mark cream, it’s vital to look at the facts before buying. Facts such as what ingredients do the creams contain, how do you apply them, and have they had any good reviews?

Dermology and Revitol are the top two leading stretch mark creams on the market today. Both companies have done years of extensive research and specialise in this area of expertise. In this article, we will compare and contrast the way in which they work.

Dermology stretch mark cream’s primary purpose is to stop stretch marks from occurring in the first place. This means that those who benefit most from the product will be protecting themselves against stretch marks as a result of events such as pregnancy, rapid weight gain, or rapid muscle gain.

Dermology recommends that you start using their cream during the early stages of pregnancy and even when you are trying to conceive for the best results. This way your skin will be prepaid for the changes about to occur.

what is a good supplement to take for rapid muscle gain?
I am 5 ft 8 in and weigh about 135-140 and im planning on working out everyday this winter i have little to no body fat and i was wondering what i should take. i have a huge bag of protein, but i also want to take a testosterone booster. i just need something that works really goood. any suggestions would be appreciated

    • ANSWER:
If you want something to take prior to you workouts then I would recommend a good natural Nitric Oxide booster mate. Nitric oxide booster is pretty much the non-steroid route for the natural increasing of testosterone in the body.

Ive been using 60% icariin extract capsules (pretty strong stuff) for a while now and its really boosted my performance and it gives me that ripped muscle swell feeling after each workout instead of getting that feeling only when doing a huge intense gym session.

Its good that your using your protein for your muscle mass and post work-out recovery, but defo get yourself a good strong icariin extract for faster muscle gain.

      Have good lifts kiddo

  4. QUESTION:
How can i gain 20 pounds of muscle in my legs as well as my gluteus.?
I am 21 years old i 5’2 and weigh 114 pounds. I have been this weight for the past coulple of years. Now i am looking to gain more weight in my legs as well as my gluteus. I currently attend a gym but am looking to know what would be the best protein shakes or supplement thats out on the market in contributing to rapid muscle gain. I purchased syntha-6 but it doesnt seem to have an effect on me at all. Im looking for something that doesnt add to my abdominal muscles because i am trying to get abs as well. someone please give me good advice.

At the gym i do lunges and squats with weight the leg press as well as the all whole lot of other leg machines.

    • ANSWER:
Do yourself a favor and never touch one of those leg machines again. They won’t do you any good. Squats squats squats. Find the max weight you can 3 sets of 5 at, do it every other day and each time increase your weight by 5-10lbs.
make sure you go BELOW parallel. back strait, weight on your heals, elbows back.

  5. QUESTION:
Do a lot of guys overlook pure caloric intake when trying to gain muscle?
When I “bulk” and work out in order to gain muscle, I always try to OVERSHOOT my caloric targets. I aim for around 6,000 calories per day, but sometimes hit 8,000. A lot of guys are worried about “gaining fat,” but I don’t worry about that at all. I just work out as hard as possible and let the calories sort themselves out.

However, it seems like a lot of guys who try to “bulk” are afraid to truly eat enough to make rapid muscle gain possible.

    Why is this?

When I was 16, I went from being 135lbs and bench-pressing 150lbs to being 205lbs and bench-pressing 415lbs within a little more than a year simply by eating big and lifting three times per week, as much as my muscles felt comfortable with.

When I graduated from high school, I was able to bench 425lbs and weighed slightly over 210lbs despite having only 8% body fat. And this was WITH a serious shoulder injury I had sustained while playing football.

Why don’t more males follow this example?

    • ANSWER:
Visit scoobysworkshop.net and go on the forums and there you will find really good answers from people who are going thru it and also who have experience.
They also have calorie calculators and things its a really useful website. But i think your on the wrong path because proteins are way more important then calories.

Im 16 close to 17 and i lost about 5KG in about 2 weeks or less by just working at home and eating healthy i also gained a little bit more of biceps muscle. Tomorrow im going to sign for a gym. I have been in gyms since 14. But after a year i left and some time after that i had a back injury and had to leave gym however im getting back now.

But try the website i told you its really useful. Go to the forums for any questions and im sure someone its gonna help you it really helped me and i learned alot.

Also 6000-8000 is way too much. Do you take care of how much protein you get? Because protein is more important then calories.

So to sum up, I have had protein shakes i.e Muscle milk but what else is out there that’s safe for a 16 year old overweight teen? creatine?

I would like to keep it under 0 if at all possible

Sorry for talking about Myself so much!!!

    • ANSWER:
First of all, Muscle milk is very high in sugars and fats and will make you put on weight. Try going for a higher quality protein powder that is made from whey protein (GNC has tons of them). Creatine is completely safe (assuming you follow the proper dosage) and will help you gain muscle. You may want to look at taking a pre-workout drink as well, such as NO-Xplode or AMP NO Loaded. These have creatine in them already and will give you more energy during your workout. It will be hard to drop that much weight in such little time, but if you push yourself hard enough it is possible. And remember to eat right, especially since you are trying to gain muscle.

  9. QUESTION:
How do I increase my muscle gains at a rapid pace?
Hi, my name is David Hernandez and i am 15 years old. I am currently on creatine and whey protein. I am using my creatine correctly by following the 3 phases and i take protein after each of my workouts. Now, i dont have a very fast metabolism but before i started working out i would eat alot fo junk food every day and would gain weight. The diet that i am currently on consist of 5-6 meals a day. Each meal has around 40-60 carbs, 3 – 7g fat, 20-25 g protein, and 1-1 1/2 gallons of water. Ive been on this diet for nearly 2 months now. Every 2 weeks i weigh myself and dont find much weight gained. Im assuming this is due to my intake of calories considering i use to take in a lot before starting my diet. I am now 120 lbs and want to gain much more muscle at a rapid pace.

    • ANSWER:
      hey david
i am a personal trainer and i can help u with this.
drinking milk is the best thing because it give u more muscle mass. muscle weighs more then fat so if u drink milk it will give u more muscle mass…. and try to eat fat because ur not suppose eat fat when u dont work out but when ur working out u eat less amount of fat but not too much… so eat some fat things so ur body can break down the fat and change it into muscles in different parts of ur body. try to drink gatorade and all of those things because it will help ur blood to flow and make u stronger in all the parts because ur muscles need more sugar and fat to break down and to produce more other muscles

  10. QUESTION:
Will Carb supplement for weightlifting make you gain weight in muscle or fat?
I am lifting and trying to gain weight and I have carb and protein supplements. It says take the CarboHit with the Whey Protein before and after or for rapid weight gain I should consume CarboHit 4 times daily. Will this result in me getting some fat or a gut?

    • ANSWER:
I think of this in terms of fuel. When you work out your body uses up a certain amount of fuel – in the form of carbs, proteins, fats, micro nutrients, water, etc. In order for you to build muscle you must exceed that amount of fuel you burned up; preferably by providing your body with what it needs to build muscle.

The body creates fat in order to have a battery – a fuel source when food is scarce. If you are in-taking ANY fuel that you don’t use your body will automatically make a battery (fat) out of it. It is important to find out exactly how much you want to gain and eat the right amount of calories. First, figure your BMR (Basic Metabolic rate). Here is a calculator:

      http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

This will give you the total amount of calories per day you need for normal living (non Athlete). Add at least 500 – 1000 to the number you get because you are lifting to gain muscle, and then figure in 1 gram of protein per pound you weigh per day.

The reason you should use protein to build instead of carbs is that protein provides the essential amino acids that your muscles need to replenish themselves. Carbs just provide calories. You need calories, but it would be better to get them in the form of the fruits and such that you pair with your protein so you get extra good macro nutrients and good sugars.

Here is a great gainer smoothie recipe:

This will help you GAIN MUSCLE without getting fat! Eat the right amount of calories and work out. Just don’t exceed the calories you use and you shouldn’t get a gut. Also, be sure you are using a high quality, chemical free whey protein!

    • ANSWER:
      Hi
Here are 7 simple secrets on how to grow muscles fast:

      1. Consume more calories than you burn: this is the first thing you need to do. Yes, you will gain some fat, but if you want to see massive jumps in muscularity, consuming many calories every day is an absolute must.
      2. Get rid of “bad foods”: Empty your fridge of sodas, juices, bacon, pepperoni, ice cream and practically anything that contains sugar or sodium. Sugar and sodium are your enemies. If you leave them there sooner or later you will yield to temptation.
      3. Eat the right foods:
      * Eggs and egg whites in particular (they are an excellent source of protein).
      * Cheese and especially cottage cheese (it is low in saturated fat).
      * Turkey and chicken (they are also rich in proteins).
      * Extra virgin olive oil (it’s loaded with antioxidants).
      * Salmon and especially wild salmon (it contains omega-3 fatty acids).
      * Lean red meat such as beef (it contains B vitamins, iron and zinc).
      * Milk (it can provide your body with calcium and protect your bones during hard workouts).
      4. Eat every 2-3 hours: You should be eating decent size meals to promote muscle gain. Taking only 1-2 meals a day can actually make your muscles smaller.
      5. Don’t forget stretching: Stretching can help you minimize injury and maximize performance.
      6. Get enough sleep: Growth hormone is produced during sleep, so try to get at least 6-8 hours of rest every night.
      7. Make your body produce more testosterone: Testosterone stimulates protein synthesis and causes muscle growth. You can control your testosterone levels through your diet, at least to some degree.

  13. QUESTION:
i want to loose weight and gain muscle?
Ive heard of a diet plan that one month you gain muscle and the other you loose weight. it like confused your body. and you gain muscle more rapid and loose weight more rapid.

and others say that you should loose weight then gain muscle….

so my idea is to do it week to week.

one week i gain muscle(high cal./more weight less rep)
one week i loose weight (low cal./run/less weight high rep)

can anyone tell me if this is a good plan? or anything i could do better? or if this is just a bad plan all together?

    thank you.

    btw….im 18/m/200 lbs/ 6′ 3″
    when i say loosing “weight”

i mean only fat. and gaining muscle weight.

i don’t care how much i weight….just what my body looks like and how well it can preform.

  14. QUESTION:
Weight loss and minimum muscle gain?
I recently joined a gym and was wondering what the best exercises are for maximum and rapid weight loss are?I dont want ANY of that weight gain through putting on muscle as i joined purely to lose a half a stone i have put on and while i no muscle burns calories even at rest and all the science behind it,i just want and like to measure my results on the scale. So would say running on the treadmil, doing the cross trainer and attending spinning classes say 5 times a week do the job?

    • ANSWER:
You want to do body-weight exercises, ones that use you own weight… jumping jacks, squats, and lunges. The treadmill and elliptical are a good idea too. So do your plan put some body-weight exercises in and most important, to lose weight eat about 1600 calories a day of good food that burns off fast, not fast food. good luck

pretty good looking guy that blew up in high school from lifting alot. has alot of muscle mass and would have a decent looking body aside from the stretch marks that resulted from the rapid muscle gain around the arm pits chest and upper arms. what would a girls reaction/opinion be to this?

    • ANSWER:
Well, stretch marks are never flattering. But I don’t think it would determine the extent of the relationship.

  17. QUESTION:
How can I gain weight at a rapid (or moderately rapid) pace?
I’m 17, and currently I’m 135 lbs (about 5′ 8″). I’ve tried various weight gainers, including Muscle Juice and CytoSport’s CytoGainer — with the two products combined (over a 6 month span) I’ve managed to gain an estimated 10 lbs (which isn’t a lot over that span).

What supplements (weight gainers) would you recommend to gain weight quickly?
What food would you recommend to gain weight quickly?

    – Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
      Milk.

      You don’t need fancy supplements.

Eat 5000-7000 calories a day, lift weights.

My guess is you just need more calories.

  18. QUESTION:
    Unexpected rapid weight gain?…yikes!?
    Hi,

Within 7 days I’ve gained 7 pounds for unknown reasons, and was hoping for some insight.

    Background:
I play D3 softball, and have been doing conditioning workouts for the past week (yes, maybe some muscle has been gained, but nowhere near the amount that could account for 7 pounds).
Last week I converted to vegetarianism…..so maybe this is my body reacting to that?
There is a potential for the weight being pure water retention, but for unknown reasons (I’m sure my salt intake hasn’t increased to the point that I would gain 7 pounds)
I have not been over eating….theoretically, for someone to gain 1 pound in 7 days, they would have to eat 500 extra calories during the course of the week. In my case, I would have had to consume 24500 extra calories (more actually thanks to my workouts) to have gained the 7 pounds from over eating.
Another potential reason is poly-cystic ovarian syndrome (listed on many credible sources as a reason for rapid weight gain. My grandmother has it and my mother has it, and I show some of the symptoms (like the insane irregularity of y menstrual cycle). I haven’t yet completed the blood tests for it.

I’m not sure what to make of my weight gain, or even what to do, for that matter.

    Any insight is appreciated! Thanks!
I guess I’d better add that I do eat relatively healthy. I don’t go out to eat alot, I don’t drink alot (although I did turn 21 a little less than a month ago), and I’ve consumed less as a whole in the past week due to my vegetarianism.

Rapid weight gain not sure what’s going on?
Yes, i have been weightlifting. but in the past 2-3 months ive went from 152 pounds to 177 which is a gain of 25 pounds.. i know i should gain SOME weight from muscle, but i dont think that is right. I’m 16 and a little taller than 5’7″ in height last time i checked. I do not look overweight, but i’m “ripped” to the fact where i have a six or eight pack or whatever so i’m not solid muscle. i don’t understand? could it be that i might be getting taller soon? does a person’s body gain weight before they grow in height?

  23. QUESTION:
started working out- rapid weight gain?
so, i’m a pretty little guy- 5’11″ and 130, so I’ve decided to rectify this by working out; I’ve been weight training for a few weeks, and started taking protein supplements at a friend’s recommendation (nothing fancy, just whey protein). This adds up to about an additional 40 grams a day, about 200 calories. I started this about a week ago.

since doing this, i’ve gained about 5 pounds. this worries me a little… i doubt i could have gained that much muscle mass that quickly. Did I somehow slow down my body’s metabolism or cause it to hold onto everything it can? In addition to weights, I’ve been running about 3 miles a day. Before this, my weight has been pretty much the same for the past several years.
i’ve pretty much kept the same caloric intake. the only increase was the extra protein, but the running should mitigate that

  24. QUESTION:
    Women Muscle Gain Supplements?
I am a 19yr old college student. I work-out at home and I am prepping myself for the P90X home workout system. The thing is, I need to lose at least 10 pounds before I can do it so I do not stress old injuries as much. I do a lot of kettlebell, plyometrics and get in as much cardio as i can. I am not looking for a quick fix but looking for the best that money can buy as I do not want to spend my money on something that is useless and will never work. I have tried SlimQuick and Xantrex and such, but none worked. I was also on a Rapid Ab Cut type product but i cannot handle all the caffeine and ephedra that it was pumping into me. I would like something that is geared towards women. Something that is a muscle builder/enhancer as opposed to strictly a fat burner. And something I can pick up at WalMarts, GNC or a health food store. I do not order anything offline and not from other countrys.
im not looking for anything magic, i just want a pill or a supplement that is a good muscle builder. it would be nice to get the fat burner first, but muscle eats fat so I want to help the process along… i need a muscle biulding supplement that isnt just pure cretien or protein.. maybe a mix of it. I dont want to be mixing four differnt shakes or taking a handful of pills.. the reason why i said i need to lose about 10 pounds is because my knees have both been injured by horseback riding and bull riding.. and the P90X system is very intense, so i would like to get alittle weight off before i do it so that i dont stress my knees out as much. so most importantly, a good muscle builder whether in pill or powdered form.
im not looking to loose weight.. im looking to lose fat and gain muscle… if i wanted to just lose weight i would have done some “miracle cure” pill or weird strict diet to loose “weight”… i care about the fat percentage of my body then losing 5-8pounds of water weight or “temporary” weight loss.
the reason why i want a muscle builder is because i cannot go out and run 20miles or lift 50+ pounds.. my knees cannot handle that type of stress load.. i use a 10, 15 and 20 pound kettlebell. I run about 1-10miles in a day. I do about anywhere between 30-50 pushups, tricep dips, etc a day. and about 300 crunchs and 100 situps. I am not seeing the results that should be seeing as i have a slower metabolism and my body just has lower levels of everything. My docter recommended to talk to a “professional” at GNC or other health centers like it, but i would like to go in with some knowledge of at least a few products in there, or say without a doubt what supplements/vitamins/minerals that i want

    • ANSWER:

  25. QUESTION:
What is the best muscle building supplement for fast gains?
I want something to help with rapid size gains at a reasonable price. With so many options, what works best alone (without stacking)?

    • ANSWER:
Weights in the gym. If there was a magic pill wed all take it. Dont believe the hype. You know what you get in supplements? Extra weight. My buddy was a body builder he died in a car crash. He use to spend all that money on supplements one day he said I cant afford these supplements anymore what can I do. He started eating and getting all his protein from his foods. He dropped 20 lbs. but man was he ever cut more then. I myself go for the heavy weights but we all have our own things. I like my diet as a powerlifter its the See Diet I see it I eat it. Ha ha. Hard work and dedication. I dont need to tell you what those guys in the ads do do I ? Didnt think so. Peace out and keep pumping!

  26. QUESTION:
need to gain 8 of muscle lbs in 2 weeks?
hello. I enjoy working out. i go 4 days a week and have been taking creatine and protein supplements but have had a hard time gaining weight. I dont know why. I work out diff muscle groups each day and do between 10-15 reps and 5 exercises for each group. Is it because I have a really rapid metabolism? its kinda frustrating. Right now I weigh 163-164 lbs on a manual scale; some electronic scales I use at the gym are inaccurate and say I weigh as low as 158 and as high as 166. My goal is 170 and I feel like I’m wasting money on these supplements if I’m not achieving my goal. I’ve been using GNC Mass XXX just recently but have been using BSN NO-Xplode and CellMass the past 4 months and have seen minimal gains but I do have better pumps in my workouts. I’m moving away to college in few weeks and there would be nothing better than getting that extra boost of confidence from putting on those 8 lbs of muscle. Thank you for your help!

    • ANSWER:
Unfortunately, we are also limited by our genetics. We have the same problem – we are what others call the ‘hard gainers’. I guess the best way to dramatically add mass is to even increase the protein intake. ©

If you feel that you need more that what your powders/ shakes give you, you might want to eat 6-8 egg whites a day. This is high in protein and low in cholesterol and carbohydrates. Note also the protein supplement that you feel had given you the best result. This is really dependent on the person. One can have good result on one powder but another person will not have the same result on the same powder. He might have a good result on another powder.

It is not always a good thing to base the results of your efforts on a weighing scale. Look in the mirror, do you now see the body you want to have? Does it look good / proportioned?

  27. QUESTION:
What are some GOOD MASS building exercises for the major muscle groups?
    You know,
CHEST, SHOULDERS, BACK ARMS, LEGS, CALVES.
I really just need some exercises to do. I’ll take care of the reps and sets.
If you could point out some good routines as I would like some ideas so I can alternate routine about every 6 weeks(or at least change reps and sets).

Another important piece of info I would like is, How often per week should I workout for rapid gains in size and strength?
(I JUST WNAT TO GET BIGGER)
I’LL PUT ON MAYBE 20, HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES. 6 MONTHS MAYBE.

I ONLY NEED BASIC STUFF AS IM A BUSY MAN!!

  28. QUESTION:
Becoming really discouraged with this weight gain even though I’m active.. help?
Okay first things first, I was anorexic for a year. I finally decided to slowly increase my calories until now, being fully recovered! I know weight gain comes with recovery.. I was 115 lbs 5’7 when I was anorexic. I started eating super healthy & a normal amount of calories & working out a lottt to slow the rapid fat gain & get muscle. However I am now 145 lbs and I keep gaining weight like crazy. Yes, a lot of it is muscle but I have stubborn fat, and keep getting more, despite being realllly active and eating a wellbalanced diet. What can I do? I have abdominal fat & a fatty liverand I just want to be healthy and fit and end all of this. HELP?
ive been recovered for a few months now, but still gaining -___-
I’m 19 years old. I definitely get a lot of protein and fiber and all that good stuff. I am trying really hard to regulate my metabolism but I find myself eating a lottttt sometimes. It’s so rough looking at the scale and seeing myself at 145, the heaviest I’ve ever been. Btw, the anorexia came as a form of control over something in my life when I was dealing with a couple of deaths of people close tome all at one time. Just a side note for anyone wondering the source. Thanks guys!

    • ANSWER:
it’s possible that your previous anorexia changed the metabolism of your body, or how your body processes sugars etc…I’d consult a doctor if I were you, but personally, this is what I do to keep fit (just for ideas…I’d go to the doctor >_<):

strength training twice a week, cardio 3 times a week, break 2 days

3 meals, 2-3 snacks a day (healthy snacks like fruits and sandwiches etc. =) )

      sleep well (7-8hrs a night)

instead of counting calories, look at specifically what's inside the food ie, proportions of fat/carbs, protein and fibre...calories are too general. it's just a unit of energy, but we all need energy!!!! so yeah....make sure you have a good balance of everything, too much of anything can be a bad thing!!! =)

btw, timing your meals and activities also help regulate metabolism etc....so try to keep it consistent, people always only look at the amount of food they ingest, but eating a lot at once will make you gain more than if you ate the same amount over a longer period of time.

edit: have you tried eating more smaller meals throughout the day? and when it comes to hunger, eat based on hunger, not emotion...I know too many people who eat out of boredom or stress...worst mistake. I did that once and damaged my stomach. you should consult a doctor about your concerns see what they can do, after all, they ARE the professionals =)

  29. QUESTION:
Are my anti-depressants causing my rapid weight gain?
I’ve been on various types of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications for many years and I’m finally on sertraline 150mg a day and seroquel (quietiapine) 50mg a day, and have been since April. they’re not really working all that well but I am definitely feeling better on these than any other medications. However I have put on a lot of weight in the last few months and I’m wondering if these pills could be causing it? I’m not eating any more than normal and I’m doing my best to exercise more but I seem to be gaining weight more and more (and yes I know muscle weighs more than fat but I have also gone up two dress sizes since Christmas)

Has anyone else experienced this and what was your solution? I can’t stop taking the medications as I become suicidal and extremely anxious.
Please help, as my weight gain is causing me serious concern and is making me more depressed than ever.
    Thanks, N x

    • ANSWER:
Experts say that for up to 25% of people, most antidepressant medications — including the popular SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) drugs like Prozac, Lexapro, Paxil, and Zoloft — can cause a weight gain of 10 pounds or more.

“This is a phenomenon that was first noticed years ago when Prozac first came on the market. It didn’t initially show up in the clinical trials because most of them were eight to 12 weeks in length, and the weight gain generally occurs with longer use. But it’s definitely one of the side effects of this and other antidepressant medications.

Although there are a number of theories as to why antidepressants lead to weight gain, Scientists believe that both appetite and metabolism may be affected.

This is clearly a problem for the majority of drugs used to treat depression, and while it doesn’t occur with every drug or for every person, when it does happen, it can be a significant problem that you shouldn’t just ignore.

      Good luck!

    b) I just got my period yesterday

    c) I increased my exercise a few weeks ago from an hour exercise bike to 2 hours.

  33. QUESTION:
Bloating or IBS or Celiac Disease or Rapid Weight Gain…I’m so confused, answers please!?
I’m a 20 year old female and for the past two months I’ve been bloated (at least I think). I lost 10lbs in that last two months but in the past two weeks I’ve gained 6lbs. All of a sudden, and I really mean it, I’ve noticed maybe fat or muscle on my hips because normally my hip bones stick out or are noticeable. After anything I eat or drink in any amount I bloat up and look like I’m three months pregnant, I don’t get it. Even when I wake up in the morning I feel bloated but yet I’m starving (I’m normally a very hungry person). I noticed the waist band on my work pants are a little tight…but how could that happen in like two weeks? I have actually been eating healthier! Also, I’ve never had any known allergies but one week in October all of a sudden I guess I got allergies, lol. Yesterday I think I broke out with a rash after eating or working out, I don’t know which one but my face was hot, red, and itchy along my jawline…any suggestions? It won’t let me type anymore :(

    • ANSWER:
It could be celiac, but doesn’t scream it or anything. It would explain the bloating, the weight fluctuations, being hungry all the time. Celiac is very common — 1 in 133 people in the US have it, but only 97% of them know it. There is a rash that goes along with celiac, but that almost sounds like a food allergy reaction rather than celiac. You can also have an allergy to wheat which is a different reaction than celiac, which is an autoimmune reaction and not an allergy. Celiac can and does come out of the blue. Most people with celiac can tell you exactly when their symptoms started.

BUT, it does sound like you’re reacting to something you’re eating. It could be anything from celiac or a true food allergy, to an intolerance or sensitivity.

You said that you had started eating healthier. Before I found out about having celiac myself, every time I made the resolution to eat healthier I got sick because I heard that eating things such as whole grains and wheat grass were healthy. Sick as a dog. If you’re concerned that you may be having an issue with gluten, keep in mind that spelt, kamut and sprouted wheat all have gluten in them, no matter what people at the health food store may say (it’s a common mistake).

Some of the other things that are common foods that are also the top food allergens are – soy, dairy, peanuts, other nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans), eggs, fish, shellfish.

Dairy can cause some of the same issues as celiac. There is a protein in dairy called casein that is a seperate reaction than lactose. It’s relatively common for people with celiac to not only be gluten free, but casein free.

Soy is also a very common thing to react to which is touted as a health cure-all. There was a while where I had a sensitivity to it and it tore me up. I’m fine with it now, but for a few months it really messed me up. It’s also difficult to avoid because it’s another one of those things that’s in everything nowadays.

      Well, I hope this helps.

  34. QUESTION:
    Anabolic Xtreme’s Superdrol or R.A.G.E. 4?
I’m 21 years old. 5’10. 190lbs. I have been lifting since I was 16 on and off (and when I say off, I mean there will be 2-3 months when I am completely abscent from the gym due to work etc..) Since I can remember I have had every friend around me take a pro-hormone at one point and had the kind of results in one month that I barely get in a year. All 4 years of highschool I constantly turned them down during wrestling and football. I did not amuse the notion of taking them although saying it was tempting does not describe it. Anyways I’ll get to the point. I have a very good frame and I would say I’m as noligible as the next guy when it comes to lifting. BUT for the life of me..I cannot get rid of my spare tire. I have had a little extra fat on my lower stomach and love handles since i can remember. I also cannot break 200 lbs. I have tried through countless diets. I am more focused on gaining muscle then losing my gut which I’m confident will come along with the cardio and rapid muscle gain I get from either of these supplements. I am taking one of the two products listed in the title no matter what..I would just like a more professional opinion then mine on which one to take. I have already posted this once before on a fitness forum but no one really took the time to help me. The only responses I got were telling me how much of an ass I am for considering this which maybe I am but I’m doing it either way. I know the risk. I have only have 25 days to change my body as much as possible. Please help.

    • ANSWER:
Go jogging in the morning before you eat, this burns 300% more fat than if you did it after eating. It will increase your metabolism for the rest of the day which burns more fat, and also will boost your appetite. Do lots of weight lifting to build muscle and eat lots after your workouts. Your body hangs on to fat if you eat too little because fat is its emergency energy store. You’ve got to make your body think that there will always be food, by never letting yourself be hungry for hours. This way it will burn more fat.

  35. QUESTION:
How much do you really know about Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism)?
Out of the list of symptoms listed below, which ones are associated with hyperthyroidism? Which ones are not?

    01. Rapid weight gain
    02. Severe muscle atrophy – to the point of being crippling
    03. Muscle pain
    04. Rapid heart rate
    05. High blood pressure
    06. Goiter
    07. Hair loss
    08. Brittle fingernails & toenails
    09. Extreme intolerance to cold
    10. Severe mood swings

Can you think of any symptoms that are not listed here?

Also, are there any methods for the treatment of this disease that does not involve popping any pills?

    • ANSWER:
Graves’ disease can manifest with any or all of the following:

      Shortness of breath

      Weakness

      Fatigue

Pretibial myxedema (lumpy, reddish-colored thickening of the skin, usually on the shins)

      Double vision

      Muscle wasting

      Increased eye tearing

      Infrequent or absent menstrual periods

      Abnormal breast enlargement (men)

      Increased hair loss

      Diminished sex drive

      Brittle nails

      Treatment of Graves’ Disease
The choice of treatment depends upon the age and overall condition of the patient, the size of thyroid gland, and patient preference.

Currently, there are at least three methods of treatment: drugs that inhibit production of thyroid hormone or provide symptomatic relief, the use of radioactive iodine to destroy part of the thyroid gland and thereby reduce hormone production, or surgical removal of part of the gland.

Drug therapy. Your doctor will prescribe either methimazole (Tapazole) or propylthiouracil (PTU) pills. These drugs act to prevent the thyroid from manufacturing the thyroid hormone.

The side effects of this medication may be drowsiness and minor lethargy; in rare cases, they can cause agranulocytosis, a blood disease. Most of the time, however, this form of therapy is safe and restores normal hormone balance within a couple of months.

Another medication, propranolol, is a beta-blocker that helps relieve the symptoms of Graves’ disease including rapid heart rate, tremor, sweating and anxiety. Iodinated contrast agents can also provide effective treatment for hyperthyroidism of any cause.

Radioactive iodine therapy. This is an alternative if drug treatment fails. You are given a capsule or a drink of water containing radioactive iodine. After being swallowed, the “radioiodine” is rapidly absorbed by the overactive thyroid cells and are destroyed by the radiation, so less thyroid hormone is produced.

The radioactivity disappears from the body within days. You should not undergo radioactive iodine therapy if you are pregnant as the radiation can adversely affect a developing fetus.

Surgery. Thyroidectomy is surgical removal of all or part of the thyroid gland. If only a single lump or nodule within the thyroid is producing too much hormone, the surgeon can take out just that small part of the gland. If the entire gland is overactive, which is more often the case, a total thyroidectomy is needed.

Surgery is the preferred treatment for people with a large goiter who chronically relapse after drug therapy, if there is a risk of cancer, and for people who refuse or are not candidates for radioactive iodine therapy, such as pregnant women. Depending on how much of the gland is left after surgery, you may need subsequent thyroid replacement therapy.

  36. QUESTION:
marijuana and working out a good idea?
i was wondering this for a while now. Is it a good idea to pump iron for a few hours till you are super tired and sore and then smoke some weed and get the munchies and eat alot of white meats such as chicken and other foods high in protein? in theory this makes sense cause what you eat after a workout is just as important as the workout itself. I really believe that doing this would result in rapid muscle gain due to the amount of protein one can eat while being high. the pain relief is also a plus especially if your lower body is really sore.
dont tell me that weed is bad cause there are legal drugs that are worse. i just wanna know if it will work

heavy lifting + (more mostly good) calories = rapid weight gain?
ive been lifting weights for a long while now, im 21 years old, and i constantly change my workout routine to keep it fairly challenging so i dont plateau and waste time.

recently i upped weight of all my routine from heavy to a bit more heavy, which i can handle (i work up to about 90-95 percent of my max for each workout for each muscle group). ive also incorporated more calories into my diet, meaning more proteins and other foods to supplement my fairly intense routine. 4-5 meals a day, small-medium size meals. i get 8-9 hours of sleep a day and do fair amounts of cardio with fast pace rough sex throughout the week. tmi i know.

i looked on the scale and it says i gained about 5 pounds in like 2 weeks since i started my heavier routine.

  46. QUESTION:
Why do you gain weight when you start working out?
I just started working out a week ago to build up some muscle. So I do about twenty or so minutes of strength training and 20 minutes of jogging/running (since I’m mostly trying to build up my twiggy thighs). Assuming a 5’6″, 107-110 lb 17 year old mostly active female needs about 2000 calories a day, I’ve only been eating 300 extra per day (but I have to gain a little weight anyway, doctor’s orders).

But I gained about five pounds his past week, at about a pound a day. I’ve never worked out this much before except for back in december when I went through a little “I’m going to run for three hours a day and not eat” stint. It doesn’t help that I still have the mindset that girls should be as light as possible (so the rapid weight gain bothers me).

Can someone explain some muscle physiology or something to me and tell me why you gain weight so quickly when you start working out?
But do you really gain five pounds of muscle in five days? I thought that could only happen in fairy tales =/

From when he started gr 10 at 170, I told him you should maybe just stick to that weight your big enough as it is. He didn’t think so, now he is 5’7 190lbs.

I’m not totally sure if this is normal growth for his age, He’s not fat, he is extremely muscular and been gaining rapid muscle like crazy and its extremely noticeable, I noticed his jawline and his facial structure have developed now looking like a grown man. I’m worried he’s taking something that might not be good for him in the long run.

    Suggestions? What do yo think?

  48. QUESTION:
21 and still no facial hair, weird?
I am 21(21.5) and still have no real facial hair. This has pretty much ruined my life and made me drop out of school and stopped me from doing things in fear (actually made me develop a social anxiety), no one believes my age because I look 15-16 and I believe that some places would cut my ID in half thinking it is fake. I don’t think it’s a testosterone problems since I have a really high sex drive (even though no one would probably date someone that looks like a kid so what does it matter), also I have very rapid muscle and strength gain (working out 3 days a week). Is there any way to make it grow?

Slow aging runs in my family but not this slow!

I feel ya man…I am 29 and just now am able to grow a little stubble on my chin. Its been tough devoping after everyone else. I havn’t really felt like a man until basically this year because of it. Just continue to work on the things you love and continue to work out because for the most part girls don’t care if you have facial hair or not, but they do like the muscles. I have tried everything and finally realized to just focus on the areas of my life I could control. On the bright side, once you reach 30 you’ll be pretty glad everyone thinks your 24…it comes in really handy!! Good luck!

  49. QUESTION:
Concern about taking Valproic acid and weight gain…?
My doctor has just started me on a regimen with 250mg capsules of Valproic acid to help with my muscle spasms and mood swings. I’ve been doing some investigations and I’ve found that there have been several websites warning Valproic patients of weight gain. On one sight, I read that it was “RAPID WEIGHT GAIN”. Can anyone confirm this information? And more importantly, if this is correct, could someone suggest a strategy to help prevent such an inconvenient side effect?

    Thank you!

  50. QUESTION:
How do i get back to my normal weight but keep my muscle tone?
I am 21, 5ft and weigh 110lbs. My normal weight has been 98lbs since i was 10yrs old. I eat what i want! when i want! and have always done so. In the last 2months i have managed to put on a tiny bit of wieght in the amount 12lbs. Granted 110lbs is very small, but bare in mind i’m only 5ft tall, so 110lbs on me makes me look pudgy plus i’m very toned so now my muscles look manish. I run Cross Country track& field and need to maintain a normal weight but keep all my muscle tone and still eat junk food as much as i want. I am am athlete who is naturally small but top heavy an have no growth spurts in years so what’s with rapid weght gain in less than 2month? HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY WEIGHT EVEN THOUGH I RUN AND LIFT WEIGHT 5 TIMES A WEEK FOR TRACK BUT, STILL EAT WHAT I WANT.
and no i’m not pregnant, i don;t believe in un-preteceted sex to many germy people!

    • ANSWER:
My wife is a runner and about the same size. She is 25 now but went through a few rapid weight gains. Once she didn’t appear to be growing but the scale was reading about 10 lbs more than it should have. She struggled for a long time with it until she started on organic foods. I don’t know if I’d go to that extreme, but maybe drop a couple of the worst items from your menu and see if that helped. Keep in mind, there are other things besides muscle and fat to your body.
