Tips to lose weight gain muscle together

Whole Eggs Versus Egg Whites

This has been probably one of the most controversial issues in the Fitness World. And it all boils down to whether you eat the Whole Egg or just the Egg white. As for the whole egg, it’s all about the Yolk. Which actually has 210mg of cholesterol. So what? Well as we all know cholesterol when increased, could block arteries to the heart which cause common heart attacks and maybe other cardiovascular diseases. But wait, there are 2 types of cholesterol right? The good which is HDL and the bad which LDL. Before we go any further, lets try to define some terms here.

High-density lipoproteins (HDL) “good cholesterol” – It carries the cholesterol from the arteries back to the liver.

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) “bad cholestrol” – It carris the cholesterol through the blood streams from the liver to peripheral tissues. It also carries fat to the arteries which eventually blocks blood from flowing.

So maybe the question in mind is… which of the 2 do we really need? Atually the answer is

do i have to lose weight, then gain muscle or when i gain muscle i’ll also lose the fat?

any answers are accepted, thank you!

    • ANSWER:
You can lose weight while gaining muscle. It is quite possible to do both at the same time.

Weight loss is an overall process and there are no magic answers. Pay no attention to weight loss supplements and pills and all the latest fads. You need to think about many factors but most of them are related to issues we’ve known about for a very long time. There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes – walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can’t get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house – I have often used grocery bags with food items in them, cans of food, bricks, books, etc. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate – in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don’t. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Vary your routines. Don’t eat the same number of calories every day (vary your calories from 1400 a day to 1900 or 2000 some days), eat a variety of foods, and do different kinds and amounts of exercise. You will lose weight much more efficiently if you mix things up from time to time so that your body doesn’t adjust to any one routine.

An area that many people overlook is getting enough sleep. You are much more likely to overeat or to binge eat if you are tired and not well rested, so get enough sleep.

    • ANSWER:
To lose weight (fat), include more fibrous slow digesting carbs, as opp. to the fast digesting ones.

No white breads, fast foods, sodas (not even diet) no ketchups, sugar, only skim milk, not 2%, skim and whole grain non sweet (sugary) cereal, whole wheat bread, maybe buy some soy or whey protein.

Include lean meats like ham, and other sources of protein. Avoid red meats. Take a multivitamin, calcium and vitamin d every 2 days, one or two V8s a day (or every other day).

Don’t starve, eat small healthy meals. A lot of small meals opposed to a few bigger ones– make sure is has at least 8-10 or more g of protein, not too much protein because the body can only digest a certain amount at a time; and avoid too many fruits, carbs and sugars. Fibrous veggies, greens (no starches or potatoes) are good, and no BBQ sauce (unless used sparingly) and not too much (if any) salad dressing.

Before bed (2 hrs), eat something with protein, don’t
eat many carbs before bed. Eat some of that good cereal in the morning, you need quality carbs, just not too much, and the slow digesting ones.

Do slow crunches until you can not do anymore, jog stairs (be safe though), warm up first and do sprints, short bursts of intense activity is very effective compared to long weak activity, just don’t over do it. Also include some slow but long endurance jogging. Be active!

Jog stairs ;and also do some lunges until it burns, do this every day or 2 days, keep going and don’t give up, same with eating, you need some fat, so one or two fish oils daily.

Eat fish (not fried, be careful, very careful for bones) Peanut butter on whole wheat (no jelly), which has protein, and don’t worry about the fat in that. Avocados, has fat, good fat; eat it when your hunger cravings get you.

When you do crunches, also twist on some to work your sides, keep tension on your abs.

I weigh 276.2 lbs. And im trying to lose 100..I do a cardio workout everyday and burn from 550 to 625 calories a day. When will I see results ? Will I gain weight/muscle before I lose weight ?

    • ANSWER:
If you’re doing cardio workout, then you’ll probably gain some muscle weight until your muscles stabilize to a size where they can function properly without needing growth.

Usually cardio workouts are designed to create lean muscles so don’t worry about ending up with some gained weight. It’s lean muscle forming. After that, you’ll be burning it off like crazy.

how can i lose weight, gain muscle, jump higher, and run faster? i really need to know what i can take like meds or others stuff and for me to gain all these attributes in 4 or 5 months. please really need help!!!

    • ANSWER:
      …become superman!
sorry. now, seriously. you lose weight by working off more calories than you are taking in- so start going to the gym daily. you should work out for at least 1 hour a day, and balance cardio with weight training. the weight training is what is going to build your muscle, the cardio will strengthen your heart and lungs allowing you to work harder. increase the intensity of your workout about every week or two, and change up what you are doing as a workout- if you work on arms one day, do legs the next. gradually, you will become much stronger, and much faster. talk to a track coach if you really want to jump higher and go faster- its their job to help students do that!

  12. QUESTION:
How do i lose weight and gain muscle?
I am a heavyweight wrestler and a football player and i don’t think i have the frame for being a heavyweight or a lineman. I am 5′ 9″ 250lbs but i’m pretty strong. I would like to be around 190-200, but i want to get stronger at the same time. i don’t want to lose muscle from losing weight. So what is the BEST way to do so. I can do any workout suggested. I’m NOT looking for something easy.

    • ANSWER:
regular lifting and calorie restriction. if you’re keeping your protein and carb intake up, your body will still make and save your muscle. (i’m definitely not suggesting you go to 800 kcal/day).

also look at higher reps lower weight. you may enjoy kettlebell workouts, as well as crossfit. but, essentially, you’ll want to do like anybody else trying to lose weight: exercise to create / keep your tone, and reduce caloric intake so you’re burning off what you don’t want to keep.

Personally, I watch sixpackshortcuts on Youtube and I do this one workout where it burns body fat. Try to avoid junk food if you can but its okay if you indulge yourself once in a while. 19. QUESTION:
best fruits to eat to lose weight/ gain muscle?
im trying to get into shape but am always DAM hungry. im trying to eat fruits all day instead of snacks. im getting pretty sick of bananas and apples. are there any nice fruits that magically make you lose weight and gain muscle lol? that or what are good to lose weight with?

    • ANSWER:
Fruits are excellent for weight loss. However they will not let you gain muscle. Muscle production need protein. Fruits are rich in vitamins, but supplies very little minerals, and so just feeding on fruits will result in mineral deficiencies. It is very important to eat from all the food groups for the sake of your health. The amount you eat from each group will determine whether or not you lose weight.

The reason you are hungry so often is either because you have just switched to your new diet or because you are not filling your stomach at each meal. If it is as a result of not filling your stomach, you will either find yourself eating more than you would normally do at the end of the day, or develop dizziness. Fill you stomach at each meal.

Eat a very wide variety of vegetables – both cooked and raw. Eat most of your vegetables raw. About 60% of your diet should be vegetables. Vegetables include broccoli, celery, parsley, tomatoes, carrots, turnip, cucumber, watercress, callaloo, cabbage, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce etc. Pumpkin can be shredded and eaten raw also.

You should be eating more than just bananas and apples. To get a wide range of vitamins, you need to be eating a very wide variety of fruits. Eat all the fruits that you get your hand on – grapes, cherries, berries, cantaloupe, melon, oranges and other citrus, pears, kiwi fruit etc. Please remember each time you eat fill your stomach. About 20% of your diet should be of fruits. I usually have a complete meal of fruits in the day.

Even though fruits and vegetables supplies you with some carbohydrates, most of these are fibers and so are not digestible. Hence starchy form of complex carbohydrates are also necessary in your diet. That is were foods such as yams, potatoes, breadfruits, cassavas, green bananas, breadfruits, pumpkin etc. comes in. These will not just supply you with starchy carbohydrates, thy are also rich in fiber and other nutrients necessary for good health. Avoid simple carbohydrate such as pastries, pastas, sweets, or any other processed carbs. About 10% of your diet should be of the foregoing form of carbohydrate. Again have a very wide variety of complex carbohydrates

Protein is necessary for the production of muscles. Because protein requires more energy to metabolize, if eaten in the right proportion will also aid with the reduction of stored fats while building your muscles. All protein foods carry a certain amount of fats, which are vital in the diet for metabolism, hormone production, protection of the skin, and other vital body functions. You should have a wide variety of protein also. These includes meats such as beef, pork, mutton, goat’s meat etc, milk and other dairy products, egg, fish, nuts, seeds, peas, beans and grains. Approximately 10% of your diet should be proteins.

Be sure to include sea foods including along with other sea foods, sea vegetables in your diet. They are very rich in trace elements such as iodine. You also need to do some form of exercise. Brisk walking or dancing are also exercise.

Please note: the only time one increases in fat storage, is when one is eating more fat producing foods (foods high in calories) than what the body requires to utilize. It is the excess that is stored as fat for future use. Following the above will enable you to eat widely and at the same time benefiting from all the food groups without storing fat.

    • ANSWER:
The way not to do it is starve yourself, to start with. Just exercise and eat right. I did….lost 90 LBS because of it. Starving yourself won’t help at all. Drink more water, eat less before bed, and don’t eat for stress are the 3 things I follow and i’m going pretty well if i don’t say myself. 90 LBS isn’t anything like 5-10lbs so take my advice. • ANSWER:
Hey there, great question and i’m glad I came across it today. :)

I’m going to give you some free advice.

Contrary to what you might think, Low Fat Foods DON’T WORK.

You cannot lose weight using Low Fat Diets. Low fat foods have been popular for more than 15 years, but yet our society is getting more overweight as each year passes. This fact alone should tell you that eating a purely low fat menu is not the answer to losing weight.

Anyways, to be honest again, with all the “programs” out there today, many people are getting things mixed up, they are trying MORE than one thing, and NOT sticking to one program, and as a result of this..they’re NOT losing weight…hell, some are GAINING weight because they don’t have the proper guidance..

I’m going to recomend a book, it’s not free, BUT i’ve used it myself and I still DO and I lost fat AND gained muscle……..in fact, after 30 days….well, you get the picture. :-)

Anyways, check out this link for more information and PLEASE let me know if you have any questions. :-)

How to gain muscle and lose weight at 15?
Hi I’m a 15 year-old who wants to gain muscle, lose fat and grow. My height is 5’5 and my weight is 150 pounds. I want to gain muscle but I heard that to gain muscle you need to eat more calories than what you burn when exercising. But I’m also at a risk of becoming overweight, so what should I do?
    I also need to grow
I’ve been exercising since I was 11 and I have seen results, but for some reason, I’ve been stalled for two or three months

    • ANSWER:
Ok, what will help you is, lifting it’s self. Lifting and carido up your metabolism by a lot. You are going to want to start eating more, but at the same time eat stuff with protein, carbs, and whole wheat. (white bread is bad) at the same time u need to eat healthy too. So, you could try to pick up a multi-viatmin also. at 15 you don’t need to lose weight. Your still going through your growth spert. Ok, and don’t worry about your weight. Your still young just go work out in the gym!! and find someone who will show you the ropes and knows what the hell they’re doing!

  32. QUESTION:
want to lose weight and gain muscle. what should i do and how long will it take?
im a 18 year old male. about 155 lbs and 5’6-5’7 tall. goin to college next year so i want to lose some weight, gain more muscle, and overall get in better shape. what should i do and how long will it take?

    • ANSWER:
The best workout for burning fat is whatever raises your heart rate the most.
Heart rate goes up, heat is generated, heat equals watts, watts burned equals burning calories. For me that means an hour on the elliptical. The average size person, breathing heavy, sweating, high heart rate, can burn 1000 calories in an hour. I’m 6’2″ and I do this all the time. There is 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. Wow, it’s going to take 3.5 hours of extreme workout to burn off one pound of fat. It’s far, far, easier to NOT eat the calories in the first place. Keep up the workouts but modify your diet. Also work in some core muscle group exercises. Working all ur muscles will cause them to burn energy, even after the workout. One pound of muscle will replace 5 lbs of fat, so you are going to look trimmer even before any weight falls off.

  33. QUESTION:
i am very close to being overweight i need ways to lose weight/gain muscle?
No Equipment or anything, just my body.

I dance, so my body can handle a little more then someone my typical age, not to much though

    • ANSWER:
Best to ignore any answer directing you to a website.

I am assuming that your “typical age” is teenage, I am a 77 year old grandmother and, as you will see from my profile, I score well on best answers because I have the wisdom of years. I love dancing too, and swimming, but have no interest in gym equipment yet consider my weight 140 pounds acceptable. In my 40s I put on weight and reduced it simply by having one fast day a week. I stopped taking sugary drinks in my 30s and always check ingredients for fat and sugar content. Good luck. God bless. Gladgran.

  35. QUESTION:
What’s the best way to lose weight and gain some muscle for a guy?
I’m Chinese, 22 years of age, and I’m not fat, but I’m not that in shape either. I look like Vince Vaughan. That’s right. I have a bit of a guy, a bit of a double chin, but would really like to lose weight and gain muscle. And damn it, it’s hard to gain muscle for a Chinese guy (it really is, we have skinny arms)! But any specific exercises (not talking about diets here) would you suggest?

    • ANSWER:
You’ll have to reduce your intake of fat calories. Lay off the Mickey D’s. Lay off soda and anything with salt in it. Soda makes you drink more soda and salt makes you drink more of whatever is around. Start exercising to both lose weight and gain some muscle mass. Once you have acquired some mass, begin with protein supplements. Herbalife makes the very best ones out there– all killer and no filler. Every other maker of hi-protein powders is a poseur.

Best things to do at the gym to lose weight and gain muscle during the summer.?
What should I do at the gym to lose weight and gain muscle during the summer? I want to lose maybe like 20 pounds or something and gain muscle on my arms and work on my abs. What’s the best things to do?

    • ANSWER:
10 min cardio warm up, then weight training on the areas you want to strengthen and tone, follwed by at least 30 mins of cardio

  38. QUESTION:
Is it possible to still gain muscle AND lose weight?
I’ve heard cardio can make you lose muscle, my question is, is it possible to gain more muscle via lifting than the cardio can take away? So i’ll still progress with my weights whilst also losing weight?

    • ANSWER:
By gaining muscle, you are actually making your muscle “lean”. Lean muscle tissue burns more calories per hour than fat does. The more lean muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn while at rest. Cardio is for your heart and to rev up your metabolism. A healthy exercise regimen has both ingredients… and you will gain muscle and not lose it with a combo of both.

  40. QUESTION:
How do I lose weight and gain muscle?
I’m not that fat mostly chubby so I won’t be losing weight as much I wanna gain lean weight like muscle, so what would be a good way to do that, I have dumbells with weights that i can put on from 3 lbs to 5 lbs and also is it true that with good technique you only have to do push-ups to get abs?
    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
      Pushups for abs = Bullshit
What u hav to do is gain muscle while losing fat at the same time. Which is doing cardio, and weight training, while having a good, protein-rich diet. However I have been doing this and results have been coming along slow. Yesterday I found out about the sawtooth method which is basically do 3-4 weeks of losing fat (cardio, low cal diet, etc.). then 5-6 weeks of gaining muscle(eat alot, no cardio). It sounds good to me so thats what i’ll try i suggest the same for u. Check out the link in the sources. And NO i’m not trying to sell u anything.

  41. QUESTION:
How long will it take for me to lose weight and gain muscle ?
i do 56 seconds of sit ups and 20 seconds of push ups Everyday. how long do you think it will take to lose weight and gain muscle ?

    • ANSWER:
Well, over all, the sit ups are just toning. They make your stomach/abs more flat because when you do many sit ups and they hurt, that means the muscles are ripping and causing blood to fill them in, so they are more tight. A suggestion: If your stomach/ab muscles hurt the next day, skip doing them that day because it would cause more harm than good. Push ups, however, only give you muscles within your arms. If you want to lose more weight, I also suggest you go on weight watchers or start running on the treadmill or outside everyday. But to answer your question, it matters how much weight you want to lose; if it’s about ten pounds, then it will probably take1 1/2 months to three months. (If you keep up with your exercise/eating habits)

  42. QUESTION:
Best way to lose weight and gain muscle?
Im 14, 5’4, 140 and i want to lose weight and gain muscle. I mostly want abs, chest, and biceps. Can anyone help me.

    • ANSWER:
      hey Bro,
Keep working out, mix up your weights and cardio, but keep your metabolism working and burning fat. Mix up your weight routines every 4-6 weeks. 12-14 reps will be more for endurance, 6-8 for bulk, 8-12 for strength. I also take a protein shake everyday, with about 40 grams of protein. Remember to take your shake within 30 min of working out for best results. I get my protein from the link below, it is the best I have found, and the cheapest. Their forum page has some good recipes and discussion threads on workouts. Good luck. And by the way, the vanilla flavor and oreo shake is the best!

  43. QUESTION:
How long does it take to grow muscle, and can you lose weight and gain muscle at the same time?
Hey, I’m 16 in about 2 weeks i’ll be 17 and i’, 5’5 close to 5’6 and i am overweight. I weight 245 pounds. I bought some weights, a dumbbell set. there about 15 pounds in each hand i can add more. If i start working out about an hour a day or so just lifting it up and down and get in a diet will i lose weight, but gain muscle? Also if i lose weight will i get taller since i’m overweight??

    • ANSWER:
it depends on the intensity ,correct nutrition AT the correct time and rest for anabolism to occur,as far as losing fat and building muscle at the same time well yes if you create a calorie deficit for 3 days to lower fat but that will also lower BMR so you create a calorie surplus for 2 days and this increase’s muscle + your BMR ,commonly known as the ZIGZAG diet invented by DR FRED HATFIELD ,just continue to incorporate this into your weekly schedule and it will work, you may have to juggle around the days a touch to find the one’s that produce the most beneficial results ie some decrease calories for 5 days and eat more for 2 – other’s do 2 days on ,2 days off of under eating + over eating to achieve just what they are looking for…

  45. QUESTION:
Is it possible to lose weight and gain muscle both?
Ive been swimming moderately for 4-6 hours a day for three days now.
WILL I LOSE WEIGHT AS WELL AS GAIN MUSCLE BOTH? HOW SOON?

    • ANSWER:
Only if you have a significant fat load already. A person 70 to 100 pounds or more overweight can do both easily, if you only have 5 pounds to loose and exercise it off you will probably gain weight from muscle mass increases.

Remember, the scale is not the end all be all of weight management. Body image is more important. I used to monitor weight of my crew members in the Air Force. If you looked good in the uniform I never put you on the scales, if you looked bad, I became a real pain in your posterior. And my superiors never questioned my call when I didn’t weigh someone. So strip down to nothing and weigh and look at yourself both. The look see will tell you as much as the scales do.

  46. QUESTION:
i need exercise tips to lose weight and gain muscle can anyone help?
im 15 years old im like 230lbs i play football in the fall.i want to lose weight for the summer so like july so i dont look so fat but i also want to gain muscle for football i just want to lose alot of body fat for summer i need tips.

    • ANSWER:
. all I know is what works for me. you don’t need to do all these weird diets, just 45 minutes of brisk walking and 10 pound barbells. It is a misconception that you gain muscle with heavy weights, just more reps with less weight, also don’t walk with the barbells, do them separately. eat the food you like just less of it and just stay generally active. lean muscle for football will also make you more athletic, as opposed to bulky muscle. whatever you decide to do good luck!

  47. QUESTION:
How do i lose weight NOT gain muscle?
I’ve been trying to lose weight by playing volleyball, lifting weights, moving my body around more, etc. But all i’m doing is gaining muscle and it makes me look bigger. I want to lose weight to look skinner not gain muscle and look bigger. How can i just focus MOSTLY on lose weight instead of gaining muscle?

    And i’m a 5’2 i’m 113 pounds.

    • ANSWER:
More cardio then lifting weights run, swimming, dancing and biking just to name a few. When you do resistance training (weight lifting) try lifting weights that are light but do more reps. Also do more natural weight lifting as well like push ups for example since you won’t be lifting heavy. I think you are at a perfectly healthy weight so I don’t know why you want to lose weight but to each their own.
